UNDERSTANDING YOUR ELECTRICS
What is an EICR?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report records the condition of a property’s fixed electrical installation at the time of inspection. Inspection and testing help identify damage, deterioration and defects that may need attention.
We carry out EICRs for homes and rental properties. You deal directly with Marc and Aaron, and we explain the findings and discuss any further investigation or remedial work.
The inspection’s scope and any limitations are recorded in the report. For an independent overview, read Electrical Safety First’s guide to periodic inspection and testing.
FROM ENQUIRY TO REPORT
What to expect.
Tell us about the property
Send your postcode, property type and the reason for the inspection. Include any previous report and known electrical problems so we can discuss the scope and quote.
Arrange the inspection
We agree access and explain the testing involved. Parts of the installation will need to be switched off during testing, so let us know about equipment that needs a continuous supply.
Understand the findings
Your report records the inspection results. We explain any observations and discuss the next steps, including any further investigation or remedial work that is needed.

QUICK ANSWERS
Before you book.
How much does an EICR cost?
The price depends on the property, the installation and the scope of inspection. Send us the property details for a quote, including what is covered and any separate charges.
Is an EICR the same as PAT testing?
No. An EICR concerns the fixed electrical installation. Portable appliance testing concerns electrical appliances and is a separate service.
Will the power need to be switched off?
Yes, some tests require circuits to be isolated. We discuss access and power interruptions before the visit. Tell us about any equipment that must remain powered.
What if the report identifies problems?
We explain the observations and their urgency, including anything needing further investigation. We can discuss the required remedial work and a quote for it.
